Lisa J. Haynes, CPA, MBA, ChFC®

Lisa J. Haynes’ professional experience intersects seasoned financial expertise, strategic innovation, and transformative leadership. An unparalleled asset in seeking not just to navigate the complexities of the modern financial landscape but to reshape it, her career trajectory spans many industries, including financial services, insurance, real estate finance, and nonprofit/trade associations. With a distinguished career in public accounting before ascending through pivotal roles at Fannie Mae and the Mortgage Bankers Association, Haynes brings a rare blend of strategic financial acumen and operational excellence, underscored by a strong commitment to servant leadership.

Lisa has demonstrated exceptional capability in navigating financial complexities and ensuring corporate governance through her pivotal role in the landmark $6.3 billion financial restatement at Fannie Mae and her leadership in SEC reporting at John Hancock Financial Services following demutualization. With a dynamic background in both public and private sectors, she deeply understands regulatory compliance. During the financial restatement at Fannie Mae, she delivered strategic solutions to correct improper GAAP accounting practices, demonstrating her adeptness in enhancing financial governance and resolving significant discrepancies. Additionally, Lisa managed and advised on budgets totaling $2 billion. She co-led a transformative $100 million loan accounting system conversion to enhance operational efficiency and financial reporting accuracy for $3 trillion in loans, demonstrating her extensive financial management and strategy expertise.

Before her retirement in 2024, her leadership enhanced the operational efficiency of the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Audit and Investment Committees. She directs investment policies in partnership with leading investment firms and the MBA Investment Committee, managing over $100M in operating reserves to maximize financial performance and stability. She also spearheaded the Business Continuity Team, leading the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, to prepare the entire organization for fully remote operations within one week. Led the phased reopening plan and guidelines for hybrid work.

Lisa was recognized as a Woman of Influence by HousingWire, a Top 50 Financial Leader by National Diversity First, and Nonprofit CFO of the Year by Association Trends. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bentley University, an MBA from Boston University, and a CPA certification in Virginia and Florida, and is a Chartered Financial Consultant with The American College. Lisa is currently completing certification as an executive coach and a retirement coach.
